Twitter working on a new feature for those who want to post long-form content – Times of India

For more than a decade, Twitter has been known for being a micro-blogging platform with a limited character limit. It started off with 140 characters and a few years later doubled it to 280 characters. However, things might be changing soon as a new under development feature dubbed Twitter Article just showed up, suggesting that a radical change might be coming to Twitter soon.
Jane Manchun Wong, a well-known security researcher, found a new feature known as Twitter Article. As the name suggests, the upcoming feature will support long-form posts, very much like the articles you read on the internet. However, we don’t know the word limit for the Twitter Article yet.
The feature will allow users to add headers and text formatting. Further, users will also be able to add photos, GIFs, videos and tweets in between their articles, but there is a limit to that; you can only add one video and GIF, and a maximum of four photos in a Twitter Article. Also, there is a “Focus Mode,” which hides the sidebars and expands the composer to full screen.
The Twitter Article seems to be inspired by the Facebook Notes, a now-dead feature that supported long-form posts on Facebook. Wong shared a few screenshots of menu and pop options where the feature is referred to as Notes.
We don’t know when this feature will be made available, but it might first drop for beta testers and perhaps then be rolled out to a wider audience in a stable release.
