Twitter to soon have only dark mode, Musk confirms
Twitter dark mode
Musk in a reply to a user on Twitter confirmed that the platform will soon have only dark mode. “It is better in every way,” Musk added. He was replying to an shared by this designer who suggested a black tick instead of the blue tick for verified users on Twitter. Seeing how Musk is completely changing Twitter, we might just see the blue tick turning back soon.
Twitter currently offers three display options — Default (white), Dim, and Lights Out. As you might have guessed, the first option gives you the standard white background. Dim option basically turns Twitter into a dark bluish-grey colour, and Lights Out is the one with a black background. So you still have three options to choose from until Musk brings upon this change.
Twitter also lets you change the font size, and the text colour to yellow, pink, purple, orange and green. But there’s no word on whether this will be changed too.
With a dark mode-only Twitter, the rebranding will come closer to completion. Earlier this week, Musk announced and revealed the new logo for Twitter which is now an ‘X’. The letter X is outlined in white against a black backdrop. It’s completely different from the tiny blue bird we’ve been seeing for years. So far, only Twitter web has gone through the rebranding but app icons for iOS and Android will also gradually change.
The new changes are part of a bigger plan that Musk has envisioned for Twitter with ‘X’. According to its CEO Linda Yaccarino, “X is the future state of unlimited interactivity – centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking – creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we’re just beginning to imagine.”
