Twitter Blue: Twitter blue tick is back for dead celebrities: This may be the reason – Times of India
Who all have got blue tick
The deceased personalities like Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Hollywood actor Chadwick Boseman, American singer Chester Bennington, basketball player Kobe Bryant, journalist Jamal Khashoggi, musician and dancer Michael Jackson, Canadian comedian Norm Macdonald, and former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, among others have got their blue tick restored.
The message on their Blue tick reads the “account is verified because they are subscribed to Twitter Blue and verified their phone number”. The last activity seen on Rajput and Bennington’s Twitter accounts was in 2019 and 2017 respectively.
However, it is not clear who paid for the service. While there is no clarification or official statement on the same, multiple reports on the internet suggest that this could be due to the drive in which Twitter is reportedly restoring blue check marks for those handles that have over a million.
Not everyone is getting blue tick back
It is to be noted that not all of those who have over a million followers have got the verification badge. Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds, who has over 21 million followers has not got the blue check mark back.
Musk announced that those who do not pay for the Blue subscription will have their blue tick disappear from April 20. Twitter Blue was launched in India in February this year and is available for a monthly subscription fee of Rs 650 on the web, and Rs 900 on mobile devices.
