Trial production of the Apple iPhone 15 has started in China | Digit
According to inside sources, Apple has green-lit the production of the Apple iPhone 15 in China and is also planning to speed up the manufacturing timeline in India too. The New Product Introduction (NPI) process that the company initiates generally starts in the first quarter of every year. This allows Apple to understand how the production process will be carried out when the new iPhone models have been finalised.
Foxconn is manufacturing the Apple iPhone 15
It is believed that Foxconn has commenced the trial production of the upcoming Apple iPhone 15 models. At this point, it is focussing on ironing out any production issues to prevent the kinds of delays we had seen when the Apple iPhone 14 was being manufactured. Some of the critical parties who are a part of the process include suppliers as well as manufacturers, and the process includes testing new machines and making sure that the quality assurance process is fine-tuned.
Apple wants to reduce the manufacturing gap between India and China
Apart from starting the NPI process, Apple may also be taking a few steps to reduce the overall gap between India and China production timelines. Apple generally starts the production process in China six to nine months before doing the same in India. However, this is going to change in the coming future as the tech giant wants to establish stronger relationships with its Indian partners. The idea will be to reduce the gap by a few weeks and even shift 5% of the production of smartphones to Indian factories.
