Top games releasing in May 2023

The month of May is historically not that great a month for video game releases and announcements. That’s because many developers tend to hold off on major releases and save those for E3, which is usually held next month. However, We do have some interesting releases lined up this time around. Nintendo is set to release a follow-up to its critically acclaimed Breath of The Wild, called The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The horror series, Amnesia also has a new release lined up this month with Amnesia: The Bunker. If you prefer story-driven action games, then perhaps a return to Middle Earth is just what the doctor ordered thanks to the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – May 12

Nintendo’s exclusive titles are usually great games. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a real system seller for the Nintendo Switch during the console’s launch. It was very well-received and was a game-of-the-year contender. Tears of the Kingdom looks like it will offer users more of the same. So players will get to explore the vast open world of Hyrule and battle monsters and other forces of evil.

Amnesia: The Bunker – May 23

If you are a fan of the horror genre, then this game is just what the doctor ordered. This first-person game is set in a seemingly abandoned World War I bunkers as you try and find a way to escape. Unlike other Amnesia titles, it looks like your character will be armed, but will be limited to a pistol with a single bullet. Judging by the trailers, it looks like you’ll be in for a spooky ride!

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum – May 25

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum aims to tell the story of one of the most mysterious characters in the entire series, Gollum. The game is set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and will shed light on what Gollum was up to during the period when he was searching for his ‘precious’. Do note that while the game is slated for release on the Nintendo Switch, that version will release later this year.
