Top features of Apple Vision Pro AR headset
Apple at WWDC unveiled one of its most ambitious products in years — the ‘Vision Pro’. Apple Vision Pro is an AR headset that lets you enter an immersive world where you can talk to people, access apps, watch movies, make FaceTime calls, and much more. With the Vision Pro, Apple said it’s introducing ‘spatial computing’ to the world after personal and mobile computing. It’s almost like your Black Mirror dreams (read nightmares) coming true with the Vision Pro.
Although the product is niche, it seamlessly integrates with the Apple ecosystem and focuses more on entertainment and communication. The Apple Vision Pro comes at a hefty price tag of $3,499, which is almost Rs 2,89,000. Apple will start selling it early next year in the US first, and more countries will be added later. There is no word on the India availability of the Apple Vision Pro yet.
Apple Vision Pro features
The Apple Vision Pro is an innovative product in itself but Apple has put in a lot of work that make the AR headset standout among others. So here’s a look at the top Apple Vision Pro features.
- Apple’s AR headset runs on visionOS which creates a 3D immersive experience for users to interact with apps. You basically have a life-size vision of apps in front of you that you can enlarge and move around with your eye movements, making the most of the area around you. You can also place apps side-by-side to multitask.
- A rather creepy but very interesting thing about the Vision Pro is how control it as it functions entirely with your voice, hands, and eyes. So you browse through apps by simply looking them. If you want to select something then you tap your fingers, and flick your wrist to scroll. You can also use your voice to dictate text in the search box.
- It’s not limited to these functionalities though as the Vision Pro has support for Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad. You can also connect your Mac to the AR headset to mirror the device onto a 4K display. The Vision Pro also supports all popular gaming controllers.
- Through a complex neural network, the Apple Vision Pro will scan your features and make a digital persona of you for FaceTime calls. Remember all those jokes about humans appearing as holograms in calls? Well, it’s exactly just that.
- With the Vision Pro, Apple wants to bring the movie theatre experience at home. You can watch movies in 3D on a 100-feet wide screen with Spatial Audio for that surround sound experience. The same can be applied to gaming as well with over 100 Apple Arcade games available to play on a screen as large as you want.
- Apple also heavily stressed on how the Vision Pro will still keep you connected with the real world. For this they created ‘EyeSight’ that turns the display transparent when someone is nearby so you can see each other. If you’re already engaged in some activity, then EyeSight will give the others visual cues about what you’re currently doing.
