Threads: Meta’s Threads app may soon get the Direct Message feature – Times of India
Direct Messaging or DMs is a feature that can be accessed by users to send messages privately on the same platform.Initially,Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announced that this feature will not be coming to Threads anytime soon.
According to a report by Business Insider, a leaked internal memo from Instagram now hints that DMs would be “coming soon” to Threads. Apart from this, the memo also suggested that the latest micro-blogging platform will also get some other features. Moreover, social media analyst Matt Navarra also took to Twitter to share a part of the document that claims the same. However, the company is yet to officially announce a timeline as to when the feature may show up on the platform.
Importance of DMs on Threads
DMs on Threads will help users talk about certain topics in private conversations which they don’t want to discuss in public. For private conversations, Threads users currently have to jump to a different app. Users are also reportedly not choosing Meta’s other apps like Messenger or Instagram for doing so.
Other features to arrive for Threads
Apart from DMs, Mosseri has already announced that Threads will soon get other features like trends, topics and improved search. The leaked memo also offers similar suggestions.
Moreover, Meta’s latest social media platform is also promised to receive several other features like support for multiple accounts, support for federated apps like Mastodon, a chronological feed of only people you follow, the ability to delete your Threads account without deleting Instagram, support for hashtags, and the ability to edit a post.
It is important to note that Meta hasn’t officially shared any specific timeline of when any of these features will arrive for Threads.
