This Xiaomi phone can fully charge in just nine minutes: All the details – Times of India

Fast charging has been around for a while and has gradually become faster and faster. Currently, the phone that can charge the ‘fastest’ is the OnePlus 10T, which can fully charge in 19 minutes courtesy the 150W charging support it offers. Xiaomi’s latest phone will make this sound relatively slow in comparison.
The Chinese smartphone maker recently unveiled its Redmi Note 12 series of smartphones on its home turf. A total of four phone comprise the Redmi Note 12 series and its the Discovery Edition, which grabs immediate attention. The Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition offers support to 210W HyperCharge fast charging standard. The smartphone packs in a 4300mAh battery and Xiaomi claims that it can fully charge in mere nine minutes. Now, that’s just ridiculously fast.
Xiaomi isn’t the only one in the fast charging race. Earlier this year, Oppo showcased its 240W fast charging support. Although no smartphone has been launched that offers support for it but it is a matter of time that we could see an Oppo phone doing that.

How Xiaomi got 210W charging in the phone

Xiaomi says that to achieve these fast charging levels, it had to revamp the design of the smartphone, battery cell, charger, and even the fast charging cable. In a press release, the company explained how it works. “Three 100W fast charging chips are used and are distributed in a winged layout, reducing heat generation and maximising high-power fast charging time.”
As far as the battery is concerned, the smartphone adopts a 10C dual-cell battery, and features optimised structural design and materials built using a new manufacturing process. The charger adopts dual GaN design, which improves the power density, and the new customised 10.5A specification fast charging cable has an ultra-low impedance of 70mΩ, with an increased current capacity of 75% compared with the 120W/6A cable, said Xiaomi.
It’s not clear whether the Discovery Edition of the smartphone will make its way to Indian shores or not.
