This is what WinRAR has to say about Windows 11 getting native .RAR support – Times of India
Now, in response to Microsoft’s announcement, WinRAR, the company behind the .RAR file format, has posted a meme via its official Twitter handle. The meme reads, “Us right now. #Windows11”. Also, the meme has a text “This is fine”.
.rar file compression: Details
.rar is one of the most popular file compression that offers better compression that the .zip. WinRAR is the software that’s available as a 40 days trial allows users to read, make changes and even compress files and folders. This is one of the widely used compressed file formats across the world. While there are other freeware compression formats that are giving .rar a run for its money, still it offers a wide range of features like archive, encrypt, compress an entire folder and more.
Now, Windows operating systems have only supported .zip file format for a while now and users had to rely on third-party tools to even access other compression file formats. That being said, the added .rar support will add some versatility to the operating system and make it easier for users to open .rar files without the need of additional software.
We also suspect that Windows 11’s .rar integration won’t go beyond the regarding and creating .rar files just like the .zip files on Windows operating systems.
