This is how the ‘Action button’ on iPhone 15 Pro could work – Times of India
The Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro could be very much similar to the one found on the Watch Ultra, replacing the mute switch and giving quick access to different features.
The fourth beta version of iOS 17 contains code indicating that the Action button may have up to nine customizable options for assigning various actions.
When pressed, the button can activate different features and settings that are specific to the iPhone, such as accessibility options, camera settings, flashlight, focus controls, magnifier, shortcuts, silent mode, translation tools, and voice memo recordings.
In the Camera app, the Action button can replace the volume-up button’s functions. A gentle press of the button will activate the autofocus, while a firm press will capture a photo, similar to traditional camera shutter buttons. Additionally, holding down the button for an extended period will start recording a video.
Rumours have it that the haptic touch button on the iPhone 15 Pro models will use force-sensitive controls and haptic feedback for various finger presses. The button will not physically depress like traditional buttons.
The leaked pictures of iPhone 15 Pro cases showed smaller button cutouts, indicating a possible switch to a new Action button design. Further, the sleep/wake and volume buttons will possibly be repositioned.
Back in April, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared that Apple had stopped the plan of incorporating solid-state buttons in their iPhone 15 Pro models. This was due to some production difficulties.
iPhone 15 series is expected to launch in September, including iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
