These iOS 17 features won’t be available for users at launch

iOS 17 features that won’t be available at launch

Journal app

Apple claims the Journal app will give iPhone users a new way to “appreciate life and preserve memories”. In iOS 17, the Journal app will use machine learning to suggest moments users might want to remember. The app will prompt users to journal based on photos, music, workouts, and other factors. As per the tech giant, the new Journal app will be available “later this year,” and it is not yet available in the iOS 17 beta.

Apple Music’s Collaborative playlists

This year, Apple Music will finally support collaborative playlists with the new operating system. However, the wait is far from over. With iOS 17, users will be able to invite friends to join a playlist. From there, anyone can add songs to that playlist, reorder them, delete them, and use emoji to react to the songs displayed in the Now Playing interface.

The first iOS 17 release does not include support for creating collaborative playlists in Apple Music. According to Apple, it will also be available “later this year”.

New AirDrop features

AirDrop has been updated in iOS 17, including the ability to exchange numbers using NameDrop and initiate sharing content simply by bringing two devices closer. The tech giant also mentioned a new feature for AirDrop at the WWDC, which will finish sending transfers over the Internet, indicating users can initiate an AirDrop, then move away from the other device, but the transfer will continue.

Although Apple does not currently intend to include these three features in the first version of iOS 17 when it launches, plans can always change. At the same time, features that were supposed to be included in the first iOS 17 release may be delayed. You can check out the list of eligible phones for iOS 17 here.
