The next big Call of Duty game is coming in 2023, says Activision – Times of India

Almost 10 days after the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II – the 2022 reboot sequel to the 2019 reboot – Activision has announced that the ‘next full premium’ Call of Duty is coming in 2023. This will be the 20th instalment in the overall Call of Duty series.
According to the company’s third-quarter earnings, “Activision is looking forward to building on its current momentum in 2023, with plans for next year including the most robust Call of Duty live operations to date, the next full premium release in the blockbuster annual series, and even more engaging free-to-play experiences across platforms.”
The statement essentially contradicts reports which claimed that there would be no new Call of Duty title in 2023 and the company was considering a change in the releases skipping the annual Call of Duty launch tradition.
The company, however, disputed the report but did not confirm that there will be a game to keep its annual tradition going. “We have an exciting slate of premium and free-to-play Call of Duty experiences for this year, next year and beyond. Reports of anything otherwise are incorrect. We look forward to sharing more details when the time is right,” Activision spokesperson Neil Wood said in February.

Activision’s upcoming games lineup
Activision announced that since its October 28 launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II has set new records becoming the fastest premium Call of Duty release to cross $1 billion in sales across all platforms. It says that the company will release the first season of in-game content on November 16.
On November 16, the game publisher will also release Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 which will extend the Modern Warfare universe and bring new sandbox experiences to the franchise. Apart from the ‘next full premium’ Call of Duty, Activision will also debut Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile in the third quarter of 2023. The game was unveiled earlier this year.
