Can you remember a favourite piece of clothing from when you were a child? A red crochet top when I was only one or two. Red is still my favourite colour.

Any youthful fashion mistakes? On mufti day at school in year 12, I wore a psychedelic scoop-neck top that had a scarf attached and skinny jeans. I looked like a glorified secretary on casual Friday.
What was your first fashion moment? Not my first, but I went to Paris last year and – this is embarrassing – I went to the Chanel store four times. I was on the hunt for the classic black flap bag; my friends in Sydney said, “It’s too hard, you’ll never get it.” It was sold out but I kept going back. I found out when the deliveries came in, I waited in the rain for them to open the store … and I got it. Now it’s going to be a family heirloom.

Is there a current trend you like? Couture elements in ready-to-wear. Whether appliqué or crochet, hand-work makes things more special.
What’s at the top of your wish list? A pair of Prada loafers for winter.
Is there anything you would never wear? Crocs.
What shoes do you wear most often? I alternate between two pairs of Chanel “dad sandals”, one in classic quilted black leather and the other is a flocked velvet that I wear with denim.
What do you sleep in? Masini’s printed pyjamas. I have about four pairs, including some with Valencia oranges printed on them that remind me of Rome in the summer.
Who’s your favourite fashion icon? Katharine Hepburn is the person I model my outfits on the most when I’m looking for a good silhouette and something flattering.

What do you wear on a typical working day? An oversized shirt – I rotate between different versions of the “Jack” shirt – and trousers.
What’s your favourite off-duty, casual Sunday look? Our “Joan” canvas pant and an oversized shirt. I’ll throw on a blazer if I’m going out.
