The Age is the most-read Victorian-based masthead in the country, with an audience of 5.8 million readers over the past 12 months.

Roy Morgan figures released on Monday show The Age was a go-to destination for readers, despite a slight decrease in the total number of people consuming news nationally, due to the declining relevance of the coronavirus pandemic, which made people highly reliant on the news cycle last year.

In the last four weeks, 1.4 million people had read a print edition of The Age, while 5.1 million had read the publication digitally.

“It’s again clear from these figures that readers are coming to us for credible, well-told news stories, culture and lifestyle content and award-winning investigations,” The Age’s acting editor, Michael Bachelard, said.

“This makes The Age the most influential Victorian news organisation.”
