NEW DELHI: Telegram was reportedly testing its premium subscription model. Now it appears that the company has started rolling out the same. According to a report by TechCrunch, the cloud-based messaging app has started rolling out its premium subscription service. As part of the service, users will get access to extra features by paying $4.99 (Rs 390) per month.
With the premium subscription model, Telegram users will have access to features like faster downloads, maximum file upload of up to 4GB and more. Along with these features, the users of premium models will also get double limits imposed as compared to regular users. This means that instead of 500 channels, premium users can subscribe to 1000 channels. The premium users will also be allowed to pin up to 10 chats, save up to 10 stickers and add a total of four accounts to Telegram instead of three.
With the above-mentioned features, the premium users can also get access to the library of Premium stickers, exclusive emoji reactions, animated profile pictures and more. Users can also get text conversion for voice messages and other chat management tools with the subscription. Also, the subscription to premium models will lead to the removal of sponsored messages in public channels.
Talking about the premium model, in an official post Telegram said, “Today is an important day in the history of Telegram – marking not only a new milestone but also the beginning of Telegram’s sustainable monetization. We believe that Telegram’s development should be driven primarily by its users, not advertisers. This way our users will always remain our main priority.”
Telegram also revealed that it is amongst the top five most downloaded apps worldwide in 2022 and it has 700 million monthly active users. The company said, “As Telegram keeps growing at rocket speed, many users have expressed their will to support our team. Today we’re launching Premium Telegram Premium – a subscription that lets you support Telegram’s continued development and gives you access to exclusive additional features.”
