2022 Tata Nexon EV price in India

The 2022 Tata Nexon EV MAX is expected to benefit from some crucial mechanical updates as well as an added feature list and some cosmetic updates. This will push the cost of the car up by an expected Rs 2 – 3 lakh as compared to the current generation car. The base variant of the upcoming 2022 Nexon EV MAX can have an approximate asking price of Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). This will pitch the car up against the likes of the Hyundai Kona EV and the MG ZS EV (Excite variant). 

The current generation model of the Tata Nexon EV range starts at Rs 14.54 lakh (ex-showroom) for the XM trim and goes all the way up to Rs 17.15 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Dark XZ+ Lux trim. 

2022 Tata Nexon EV MAX specifications 

While official specifications will be clear once the car is made public, rumours and initial specification leaks hint at the added range, new comfort and convenience features, exterior and interior tweaks and perhaps more performance. 

Range and powertrain 

The 2022 Tata Nexon EV MAX will get a change of heart in the form of a new battery pack. The battery pack will be considerably larger and will consequentially add to the range of the vehicle. The Nexon EV on sale right now boasts of an ARAI certified range of 312km with real-world range reportedly being 200-220km. The 2022 Tata Nexon EV MAX is expected to boost the claimed range to 400km which should also bring up the real-world range.

The battery pack is currently mated to a 129hp Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that produces 245Nm of peak torque. This combination makes the Nexon EV capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in claimed 9.9 seconds. The 2022 Tata Nexon EV Max is expected to bring some upgrades in this aspect too. The new model is expected to develop high peak power and torque figures and would be capable of achieving a higher top speed. Rumours suggest the 2022 Tata Nexon EV MAX will get a 136bhp motor which is 9bhp more than the current car. 

Battery

The battery, the heart of any electric car, is where the 2022 Tata Nexon EV MAX sees the most improvements. The 2022 Nexon EV MAX is expected to benefit from a 40kWh battery pack up from the liquid-cooled 30.2kWh high energy density Li-ion battery pack that does duty on the current generation model. The larger capacity battery will now be aided with a 6.6kW AC charger instead of the 3.3kW AC charger supplied with the current car. 

Other features

The 2022 Tata Nexon EV MAX will also get generous servings of new-age features to bring it up to times. Going by Tata Motors’ teaser, the Nexon EV MAX will get – a new centre console, a rotary shifter with a built-in display, park mode, an electronic parking brake, ESP, four-wheel disc brakes, cooled front seats, cruise control, new alloy wheels, 6 airbags, auto-hold function, auto IRVM and an air purifier and selectable re-gen modes. One can also expect new paint schemes to bring in freshness.
