Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah makers to take legal action against Jennifer Mistry; call her ‘desperate’ and her allegations ‘cheap publicity’ (Exclusive)
On Thursday, actor Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who played Mrs Roshan Sodhi in the TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), revealed that she quit the show earlier in March. Furthermore, Mistry also alleged that the makers of the show sexually assaulted her. One of the accused is Sohil Ramani, project head (TMKOC) retaliates saying that the actor’s accusation is a fabrication of lies.
Contrary to Mistry’s claims of quitting the show, Ramani says her contract was terminated by the production house. “We have removed her from the show three months ago and now she is desperate. She is unable to find work, so she is just doing it to blackmail us. It is cheap for publicity,” Ramani clarifies.
Talking further, Ramani sheds light on Mistry’s behaviour on the set. “She has been working with us for 15 years, shooting mein bohot saare utar chadhav hote hai. We have ignored her characteristics such as creating rifts among others, coming two hours late for shoot, creating misunderstandings. We have a lot of evidence against her.”
In an interview with an entertainment portal, Mistry narrated an incident from March 4, when she was “asked to get off the sets four times by Sohil” after she was leaving the set early, despite taking prior permission. Mistry added that she was “subjected to humiliation and insult”. To this, Ramani replies, “That is wrong. She had taken permission to leave early by 2pm, but then on that day, she wanted to leave sooner. I had changed our entire schedule for her. She is telling lies.”
Mistry in the interview, also revealed that she has filed a sexual harassment case against Ramani and show producer Asit Modi. Ramani, who says he is hurt by these allegations, says, “We have a committee of women, why did she never complain to the committee? All of us have never even entered a female artist’s makeup room. She is playing the woman card.”
Ramani also admits that the production house has not cleared her dues, since they were looking for an answer from Mistry. “We had shared an email with her asking her for the reasons why she did what she did. We have suffered a lot of loss because of her,” he adds.
Modi did not reply to our calls, however, in a statement said: “We will take legal action as she is trying to defame me and the show both. Since we terminated her services , she is making these baseless allegations.” Mistry couldn’t be reached for comment.
