Suzuki held a global press release wherein it confirmed that its first e-scooter in India will go official by 2025. While the press release mentions it to be a ‘Motorcycle’, it might be a repercussion of a literal translation. The upcoming EV is mostly an e-scooter, considering the audience Suzuki is targeting.

Suzuki might launch the electric Burgman maxi scooter that has been in the testing phase for a while now. Otherwise, it might bring a mid-size scooter based on Burgman’s electric platform. Burgman has been tested for over 2 years now and has been spotted on public roads as well. The company wants to launch 8 electric two-wheelers by 2030 because it has claimed that 25% of its India line-up with being EVs by FY 2030.

Honda Active Electric

Suzuki has also been working on larger-capacity bikes running on carbon-neutral fuels. Both Honda and Suzuki are focusing on commuter-specific e-scooters that will cater to city runabouts. High-performance sporty electric two-wheelers are not on their agenda at the moment. When launched, Suzuki Burgman will rival Hero Vida V1, Ola S1, Ather 450 Plus, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak. It will also face tough competition from the Honda Activa Electric which is all set to be launched by March 2024.
