Spotify: Spotify on desktop is getting a facelift: Here’s what has changed – Times of India

0

Spotify is revamping its desktop experience aimed at making it easier for users to explore, curate, listen to and organise their music on a computer or web browser. The Swedish streaming giant is bringing redesigned “Your Library” and “Now Playing” interfaces to align its desktop experience with Spotify mobile apps.
“We’re keeping the main content area unchanged, so it will still be your central hub to browse, discover, and find recommended songs and podcasts,” it said.
What’s new
On the left-hand side of the window, there is a new “Your Library” space from where users can quickly access their saved music and podcast collections. Spotify claims that its users have found that “the new Library helps them save time, provides them with a better overview, and allows them to more easily switch between playlists.”

On the right-hand side of the window, users will get “Now Playing” view, which displays the current song/ podcast being listened to. Apart from just the album art, users will get more information about the song and artist, which include their tour dates and merchandise. Users can also get transcripts for select podcasts.
“Together, the individually customisable design of these new views provides a richer experience, more context, and quicker access to personal favourites,” the company said.
Users can access Friend Activity feed via the “friends” icon next to profile picture in the top-right corner of the main content area.

Spotify lossless audio streaming
The news comes at the same time when a related report claimed that Spotify is planning to bring its lossless audio streaming in a new and more expensive subscription tier. According to a report by Bloomeberg, this expensive tier is codenamed “Supremium” internally.
Spotify announced the lossless streaming feature in February 2021 as “Spotify HiFi” but it is yet to come to users even over two years after the announcement. The report noted that the new expensive plan could be released later this year, initially in non-US markets.
