Remote working scenarios among companies which increased during the pandemic are now gradually decreasing. However, Sony has good news for users whose employers are still allowing them to work-from-home or have hybrid arrangements. Sony users will soon be able to attend virtual meetings from their living room TVs. Sony’s Bravia range of TVs will be the first hardware to support the upcoming Zoomfor TV app on Google Play. This announcement comes afterApple announced that FaceTime will be available for Apple TVs (via mounted iPhones) later this year at its annual developer conference, WWDC 2023.
How will it work
Sony’s Bravia TV lineup doesn’t come with built-in webcams. So, to use this feature, users will have to buy a Bravia Cam separately. Along with enabling Zoom calls, the accessory will also be able to adjust sound and picture settings based on the user’s location and distance from the TV.
The Bravia Cam will also let users control their TVs with hand gestures without picking up the remote. This accessory will also set out a proximity alert if it detects kids sitting too close. The external device will also add a power-saving mode that will dim the screen of the Sony Bravia TV when nobody is watching it.

Sony Bravia Cam: Availability
According to a report by Engadget, Sony has said that the Zoom for TV app will be available for Bravia TVs “by early summer.”
“This partnership will make it possible for our customers to enjoy more realistic video communication on a large TV screen in the living room, enabling them to be more connected with the people they care about, whether they are working from home, learning remotely, or just catching up with friends and family,” the company’s head of Bravia product design, Shusuke Tomonaga said.
