Sony WI C100 review: Design and Fit

Here comes the first and one of the most important parts of the review, the fitting and design. The neckband-style earphones don’t have a rigid neckband as Sony preferred the bendable base for that. They are pretty light in weight and can be comfortably carried all day long.

The neckband-style earphones have a control button at the left edge, including volume up/down and power on off. You can see the Sony branding at the right edge of the device. The LED indicator for pairing and charging is also placed on the left edge. We’ll talk further about this in the features section. I used it straight for almost 6 hours, and trust me, there was no sign of ear pain or anything like that.

One major drawback with the design is that if you are planning to enjoy your favourite movie while lying on the couch then the earphones can spoil the moment. Due to their rubber-based design, they fall off whenever you lay down, which is not the case when you use any neckband-style earphone with a rigid design.

Sony WI C100 review: Connectivity and Controls

The most amazing part about these earphones is that they can be connected to any and every device that has a Bluetooth support. The device can be simply connected to your smartphone with Bluetooth. For further customization, you can head to the Sony headphones app available on the Google Play Store.

As per my experience, the app provides you complete liberty to make changes in the sound quality to make the experience more personalized. The app also shows you a tutorial on how you can use your headset to make the process convenient for you.

The volume control buttons can also be used to play the next and the previous track. Apart from that, you can put the earphones in the pairing mode by long pressing the power button.

It can be charged via any USB Type-C charger. The earphones also have a swift pair feature that allows you to connect the device with your Pc in a blink.

One thing which turned out as a major problem was the distance. As soon as you step out of the room without the connected device, the earphones start lagging. Apart from that, I have no complaints regarding connectivity or controls of the neckband.

Sony WI C100 review: Sound quality

We can say that the sound quality is the most important part of an earphone. Because it plays a major role in deciding whether you should go for the device or not. I started the journey with the basics, played a couple of my favorite songs, and the experience was good.

Here the highlight is that at the full volume, you will not get any displeasing sensation as the audio optimization of the device is a point. Nevertheless, every coin has two sides, and as per my experience with different devices, the audio quality differs in every case.

Still, most of the time, you will get the best output. The experience skyrockets when you switch the DSEE mode on by visiting the companion app. The Digital Sound Enhancement Engine or DSEE mode of Sony improves the audio to a great extent. My personal opinion will be to keep the feature activated every time.

After that came the real audio testing part when I started listening to Ride The Lightning by Warren Zeiders. Without a doubt, the audio was decent, and the beats were clear and crispy. Moreover, audio calls have never been this smooth with any other budget earphones. The clarity of audio input and output is unmatchable for sure. There we no disconnection or lagging issues recorded while taking the calls.

Sony WI C100 review: Battery

Who on this earth will not want their earphones to go on for long hours? Actually, no one. Sony has made sure that you don’t rush to find charging sports every now and then. The Sony WI C100 neckband-style earphones come with a battery that can go on for straight 25 hours once charged completely, as per Sony.

However, at the time of using the device as a daily driver, it lasted for around 21 hours and a few minutes on average. The cherry on the cake is that the earphones get fueled up very quickly. You can listen to your couple hours long playlist without any issues after charging them for 15 to 20 minutes.

Sony WI C100 verdict: Why you should go for them?

So, on a conclusive note, we can say that the Sony WI C100 earphones are perfect for the audience that is looking for decent audio quality at an affordable price point. On the comfort part, the reaction is quite mixed because the neckband-style earphones are comfortable while sitting but not while lying down or doing some physical activity.

No doubt, the IPX4 rating protects them from multiple factors that can damage it. If you are someone who is looking for comfort, then you can ditch this one by Sony. However, if you are an audiophile and want the best audio experience, then buy it right now.
