iQOO India has recently announced its forthcoming venture into the Pro segment with its Neo line of Android smartphones, scheduled to debut later in 2023. Although the brand has yet to release specific details about the highly anticipated 7-series flagship, speculation suggests that it will feature the formidable ex-flagship Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 System-on-a-Chip (SoC), among other noteworthy specifications. With a strong likelihood of supporting rapid 120W charging and boasting a smooth 120Hz display, iQOO aims to capture the attention of smartphone enthusiasts.
Earlier this year, iQOO’s initial launch of the Neo7, equipped with a mid-range MediaTek Dimensity processor, left some Indian fans yearning for more. However, it appears that the brand has heeded their feedback, as they are now poised to address this potential discrepancy by introducing a Pro variant for the Neo7, albeit after nearly eight months.
The Neo7 did showcase a generously sized 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display, and rumors indicate that its upcoming Pro counterpart will maintain the same impressive screen, powered by the high-end Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. Additionally, it is speculated that the Pro version may offer up to 16GB of RAM, alongside a promising 50MP primary camera, likely to captivate potential buyers.
Essentially, the 7 Pro is anticipated to be a rebranded Neo7 Racing Edition, featuring Funtouch OS based on Android 13, as opposed to OriginOS 3, out of the box. Nonetheless, this development indicates that India can expect a novel smartphone experience, complete with a substantial 5,000mAh battery capable of charging up to 50% in a mere eight minutes. Official confirmation or denial of these speculations by iQOO is expected on July 4, 2023.
