Sharman Joshi says he has requested Rohit Shetty to include him in Golmaal series again: ‘I don’t know if…’
Sharman Joshi had a breakthrough year in 2006, which saw the release of two of his biggest hits–Rang de Basanti and Golmaal. However, two years later, when the sequel of Golmaal released, Sharman was not a part of it. In a recent interview, Sharman spoke about about why he did not feature in the film and whether he would ever be seen returning to the franchise. In the decade and a half since the release of the first part, the Golmaal franchise has become one of the most successful ones in Hindi cinema, but Sharman has not been a part of any film since the first. He was replaced by Shreyas Talpade in Golmaal Returns and while other actors have come in to the series, Sharman hasn’t.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, when asked why he didn’t return to Golmaal, Sharman responded, “Some management issues. My management was not communicating too well. Money was, of course, the factor. They were asking a price which the producers were not very comfortable with. I was not aware this was going on. By the time I got to know, I approached them.”
The actor added that he smoothened things out with the production house but a role never materialised for him. He added that he had patched things up with his manager as well. Recently, Sharman and Golmaal director Rohit Shetty appeared together in an ad where they made fun of the Golmaal films as well. “I did request him that I wanted to be a part of the next Golmaal and he said ‘yeah yeah’. That’s where it was left at, an ambiguous yeah. So, I don’t know whether I will actually be a part of it but I am happy to be.”
