Sharad Kelkar recalls unforgettable advice from Shah Rukh Khan: ‘I work more than I am paid for’
In his two decade-career, Sharad Kelkar has made a name for himself in television and films. Known for his powerful vocals, the actor has also dubbed for several Hollywood actors in films like Guardians of the Galaxy and Mad Max: Fury Road. Recently, the actor recalled a work incident abroad with Shah Rukh Khan where he got to observe the star and learn from him. Sharad was part of a three-day carnival abroad where he had to interact with the audience. He was due on stage after Shah Rukh Khan. He expected the whole thing to get over quickly and promised his wife that they would shopping after it was done. However, the Pathaan star stayed over his time and later came over to share a secret with him.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, the actor recalled watching Shah Rukh in action on stage and then speaking with him afterwards. He remembered, “Shah Rukh sir went on stage and he didn’t come down. He took more than 30 mins on the stage and came down when I was supposed to get done. So I asked him. I said, ‘Sir, you were supposed to be on the stage for half an hour but you were there for an hour and a half’. He said, ‘I work more than I am paid for.'”
He continued, “He did not need to tell me this. He might not have known who I am, I was a TV person. But he also respected that I’m an actor. And if I am here, I must have done something.”
Sharad is married to former actor Keerti Gaekwad. They worked together on the TV series Sinndoor Tere Naam Ka and Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar. He is known for his work in the Hindi films like Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Mohenjo Daro, Bhoomi, Housefull 4, Tanhaji, Bhuj: The Pride of India and Operation Romeo.
The actor, who also works in the Marathi and Telugu film industries, was recently seen in the Netflix film Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga with Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal. He is also a part of Rohit Shetty’s upcoming Prime Video web series Indian Police Force alongside Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi.
