Savi Thakur is back on the small screen with Sony SAB’s Maddam Sir. Here’s a chit-chat with the actor…

Maddam Sir is already running successfully. Were there any inhibitions joining the show mid-way?

I was aware that people love this show but now that I am a part of it, the magnitude of love was a surprise. I am being bombarded with fans’ emails and messages, asking when I am joining the show. It feels great to be a part of such an interesting story.

What should the audience look forward to with your entry in the show?

When the producers narrated the character to me, I knew it would only build and grow with the show, and win hearts. The character develops with each episode and the storyline, so I am excited about all the surprises the audience will get.

Please share details of your role…

I play SHO Amar Vidrohi in the show. He is a positive guy and respects women. He is a blend of serious and funny. You will have to give him some time and I assure you, he is going to entertain you to the core.

How did you prepare for the role?

Playing a cop is quite exciting. To develop the mannerisms of a cop and the right tone did take some practice. I wanted to be a good fit and have worked very hard to make Amar’s character stand out.

How does it feel to don the uniform?

It took me back to the memories of my 10th standard when I wanted to join the Army. I understand and truly value the importance of the vardi, as I come from an Army background. In fact, my cousin is a Major in the Indian Army. I have been closely connected to that atmosphere.

Are there any similarities between Savi and Amar?

Of course, I would say both Savi and Amar respect people for who they are and are grateful to whatever fate has offered them. Given I am very disciplined in real life, I slid into the soul of this character with ease.

Maddam Sir recently completed 500 episodes. What do you think sets this show apart from the others?

The show is all about women empowerment and carries that message in every track, which is its USP. It teaches you lessons while tickling your funny bone.

Any dream role that you wish to portray some day?

I had always envisioned myself playing a cop one day. And with Maddam Sir, I have ticked off that dream role from my bucket list.
