After they starred together in Love Aaj Kal (2020), fans are keen to see Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan again on the big screen. Kartik’s upcoming film Aashiqui 3 still does not have a female lead and many fans are hoping to see Sara opposite him. The actor recently shared that she would love to work in the film with Kartik, but she hasn’t been offered the film as yet. Sara is already working with Anurag on his other film, Metro In Dino. The anthology film will tell the story of four loving and heartwarming intertwined stories in modern India. It also stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkana Sensharma, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Both films also have a common co-producer with T-Series.
Speaking to Faridoon Shahryar for Connect FM, Sara shared, “I haven’t been offered Aashiqui 3 as yet but I would love to. If I am offered the film then yes, sure.”
The Aashiqui franchise was launched in 1990 with Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal. Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, it became a musical blockbuster. Vishesh Films revived the franchise in 2013 with Aashiqui 2 starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor. Mohit Suri directed the sequel which was also known for its music.
Kartik Aaryan had announced he would be a part of the franchise in September 2022. He had shared on Instagram, “Ab Tere Bin Ji Lenge Hum/ Zeher Zindagi Ka Pi Lenge Hum #Aashiqui3. This one is going to be heart-wrenching!! My First with Basu Da (Anurag Basu).” While the music will be composed by Pritam, Kartk’s romantic interest in the film is yet to be finalised.
Sara’s latest film Gaslight, with Chitrangda Singh and Vikrant Massey, can now be seen on Disney+ Hotstar. The psychological thriller is directed by Pavan Kripalani.
This year, the actor will also be seen in Laxman Utekar’s untitled film with co-star Vicky Kaushal and the period drama called Ae Watan Mere Watan. She plays the Indian freedom fighter and underground radio broadcaster Usha Mehta in the film directed by Kannan Iyer. Sara is currently working on Homi Adajania’s next, titled Murder Mubarak, which also features Karisma Kapoor.
