Samsung’s New Exynos with AMD GPU beats Apple A14 Bionic on 3D Mark Benchmark – Smartprix
Samsung and AMD entered into a strategic partnership in 2019. They followed it with an announcement of develop a custom mobile GPU based on RDNA2 architecture togeather. Since than both tech giants have droped teasers while keeping most of the details under wrap. Now, the first real benchmark of mystry Exynos chipset with AMD GPU has surfaced online.
Popular Samsung tipster Ice Universe has shared 3D mark benchmark scores of currently under testing Exynos SoC with AMD Radeon GPU. He posted 3D Mark’s Wild Life test screenshot in which the mystery device scores 8,134 points on the test clearly outscores all existing devices.
It shows the chipset’s performance in 3D Mark’s Wild Life test. The mystery SoC manages to score an impressive 8,134 points in the benchmark, making it arguably the fastest mobile GPU on the market. Interestingly, the mystery device during the test managed to maintain average frame rates (FPS) above 50 fps which is also better than iPhone 12 Pro Max’s A14 Bionic chipset’s 40fps. This means the upcoming Exynos processor with AMD GPU might outperform Apple’s A14 Bionic and Snapdragon 888 chipsets in graphic performance.
It is worth pointing out that this unannounced Exynos chipset has ARM Cortex-A77 CPU cores which we saw first in 2019. Ice Universe also points out in his tweet. He added that this is not the final product and Samsung is likely to update it with ARM’s newest Cortex 710 and X2 cores. This means one can expect Samsung’s upcoming Exynos 2200 chipset to boast of Cortex 710 and X2 cores with mRDNA2 GPU.
It seems that Samsung won’t be the only one who will be using the upcoming AMD X Exynos chipset in its phone.
As per some leaks, vivo is also keen on using AMD x Exynos chipset in its upcoming smartphones. If that turns out to be true, it won’t be first instance when vivo has backed Exynos SoC in its phone. The Chinese smartphone maker launched its X60 series with Exynos 1080 back in 2020.
