Samsung is taking this feature from Apple’s Safari browser – Times of India

0

Samsung has started to roll out the new beta update for its own internet browser. The Samsung Internet browser is the default browser that every device from the company gets pre-installed. The beta v16.0.2.15 version of the browser brings in numerous updates but the most notable addition is the option to move the address bar. Users can now move the browser’s address bar to the bottom of the page where it is easier to reach when using the device with a single hand. Till now, the address bar was stationary at the top of the page only.
It looks like Samsung is trying to follow in the footsteps of Apple. With the launch of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, the company redesigned the Safari browser and moved the address bar to the bottom of the page. Although Apple later provided an option to move the address bar back at the top after users started to complain about the new look, by default it is now positioned at the bottom only.
With the new beta, Samsung has also added support for tab groups that allow users to sort tabs into groups for easy access. The feature is already available in Google Chrome and Safari browser. Another important change in the beta update is the support for HTTPS upgrades, which is launching as a Labs feature. The feature is quite similar to Chrome’s HTTPS-First mode. Once enabled in the settings, it will automatically try to upgrade all web pages to HTTPS.
The beta update also adds better support for the company’s foldable smartphones like the newly launched Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3. If you want to try out the new features on your Samsung smartphone, you have to download and install the Samsung Internet Browser Beta application from Google Play Store.
