Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series Roundup: Everything we know about the upcoming wearable – Smartprix

While Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Series doesn’t seem like it’s old or outdated, Samsung is almost ready with the next iteration of its wearable. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series is expected to launch during the Galaxy Unpacked Event Part 2 slated to take place towards the end of July. The Galaxy Watch 6 Series is tipped to include 3 models- Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 6 Classic & Galaxy Watch 6 Pro. In this article, we will talk about everything we know about the Watch 6 Series so far.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series: Launch date

Samsung smartwatches most of the time are announced in August and released a few weeks later. Based on the pattern, this time the Galaxy Watch 6 will be announced during the Unpacked Event towards the end of July and released in August or September.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series: Price

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 launched at 279 USD for its base model while the Pro variant cost 449 USD. Both watches had LTE versions as well which were slightly pricier. The same trend might follow this year as well as Dealabs Magazine claims that the Bluetooth and 4G versions of 40mm Watch 6 might cost 319 euros and 369 euros in France respectively. The 44mm model might be priced at 350 euros and 399 euros, which is a sizable price jump. The outlet claims that the 43mm Galaxy Watch 6 Classic might cost 420 euros and 470 euros while the 47mm version could be 450 euros and 500 euros. This makes the Classic watch 50 euros cheaper than Watch 5 Pro.

Though Samsung increasing the price would make it seem expensive in comparison to competitors, the brand can do so convincingly if it introduces significant new features that impress the consumers.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series: Design

While Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Series didn’t bring a very remarkable design change to the watch line, that might change with Galaxy Watch 6 Series. Some sources suggest that Samsung will switch things up slightly by offering a 2023 “Classic” model. Some leaked renders by Steve Hemmerstoffer appear to show the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. If renders are anything to go by, it seems the watch will align with the most recent Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.  There could be a rotating bezel, home and back buttons, and a magnetic strap.

There might be 3 watches in the upcoming lineup- Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 6 Pro & Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. The basic Galaxy Watch 6 Model might have 40- and 44-mm variants.

Talking about the shades, Samsung’s watches have always mirrored its smartphones. Traditional colors like black and white are expected along with green, pink, gold, and sapphire. Some renders by WinFuture confirm that there will be at least 2 colorways for Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and 3 for the vanilla Watch 6. For Galaxy Watch 6 there will be black, cream, and silver while for Classic there will be black and silver. The Galaxy Watch 6 will come in 2 case sizes- 40mm and 44mm while the Classic model will come in 43mm and 47mm.

Dealabs magazine corroborated the leaks but the leak separated the colors by size and model. The 40mm Watch 6 will come in Graphite or Cream, while the 44mm version will offer Graphite or Silver options.  As for the Classic variant, both the 43mm and 47mm versions will come in black or silver.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series: Specifications

The Galaxy Watch 6 Series will come with a slightly better processor. The regulatory filing claims that the Galaxy Watch 6 will come with the Exynos W930 chipset. The chipset is physically altered slightly and is an overclocked version of last year’s chipset, not a brand-new device.

Speculations are rife that Samsung may bring micro-LED displays to the lineup, but SamMobile claims the tech won’t be ready by July so it might be introduced in Galaxy Watch 7. Micro LED displays offer a brighter viewing experience with better color reproduction and visibility. These might help conserve battery life.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series: New Features

In May, Samsung announced vital features that will come to Galaxy Watch 6. These watches will come with One UI 5 Watch, a new version of the skin based on Wear OS 4. Fitbit association will bring comprehensive sleep tracking and will not be locked behind a paywall.

Sensors will include an accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, Samsung’s BioActive sensor, electrocardiogram, and bioelectrical impedance analysis. Temperature sensors will also be included.

Samsung will also update fall detection for safer workouts and outings. When triggered, it can communicate directly with emergency services. Samsung also announced irregular heart rhythm notifications for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5, so it will be available on the 6-series when it lands. It will be useful for those with heart problems, and more.

Transferring a watch from one phone to another has got a new way. Earlier it needed a full reset of the watch, but One UI 5 Watch will negate the need for this annoying step. If you buy a Galaxy Watch 6 and then upgrade to Galaxy S24, you won’t need to reset your watch during the transfer.

The Pro model brings new navigation features onboard for outdoor enthusiasts; an experience similar to Garmin. These tools are here to stay but it is yet to be seen if they will make their way to the base model of the Series 6 lineup or not.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series: Battery

GalaxyClub claims that the Watch 6 Series might grow slightly. The information comes from certifications obtained by the smartwatches in Samsung’s home country South Korea. The Galaxy Watch 6 model 40mm might have a 300mAh battery while the 44mm Galaxy Watch 6 might have a 425mAh battery. There is no word about the battery of the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.

More will be known about the series as the launch day gets closer.
