Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 update fixing bricking issue arrives for Indian users – Times of India
The South Korean tech giant was quick to address the issue and started rolling out a new update in the US to fix it. A new report claims that the same update is now rolling out for Galaxy Watch 4 series users in India.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 bricking issue fixing update: More details
According to a report by Sam Mobile, the new update that fixes the bricking issue in Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic devices in India comes with the firmware version R8xxXXU1GVK4. Along with patching the bricking issue, the latest update also includes the November 2022 security patch. However, a handful of users still report that the issue has continued to persist even after installing the new update.
One of the users pointed out that after downloading the update the smartwatch had to restart to install the update. Once the smartwatch was turned off for applying the update, the device didn’t turn on again. Meanwhile, a few other users reported that the latest update fixed the bricking issue on their smartwatches.
Many users also took to Reddit to complain that Samsung is asking them to pay $72 (almost Rs 6,000) to repair their bricked Galaxy Watch 4 if it is out of warranty. This doesn’t seem fair as the issue was caused by a faulty software update rolled out by Samsung. As per the report, Samsung’s service centres might be unaware of this issue and the company should release a directive to all its service centres across the world to clarify what caused the problem in the first place.
