For quite some time, the internet has been churning rumors and leaks about the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and today is no different. A known tipster now claims that the smartphone will feature an upgraded version of the 200MP primary camera used on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Galaxy S24 Ultra Primary Sensor Name Leaked

A tipster who goes by the name Ice Universe suggests that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will come with an “HP2SX” main sensor. Like the current ISOCELL HP2 200MP sensor on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the HO2SX will be more optimized for clicking pictures. Whether the optimization will happen in the light sensitivity area, shutter speed, or image stabilization isn’t clear yet.

For those catching up, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung’s latest smartphone available globally, is the first smartphone to offer a 200MP main camera sensor. It has a 1/1.3-inch sensor size, Super Quad Phase Detection autofocus, and 4-in-1/16-in-1 pixel binning technology. Per the tipster, the new HP2SX sensor will also carry these attributes but still be optimized with the latest processor’s ISP to deliver slightly better images.

Regarding the new ISP, the S24 Ultra will ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which should come with a better image processor than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Unlike the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the S24 Ultra could offer a 50MP telephoto sensor for up to 3x optical zoom, a significant improvement over the current 10MP (f/2.4) sensor. As and when more details about the Galaxy S24 Ultra surface, you’ll get timely updates from Smartprix.
