PhoneBuff performed a speed test of the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro Max to determine which flagship device is faster. The robot launched various programmes on both smartphones at the same time, and observers timed it. Let us find out the results.

According to tests, the Galaxy S23 Ultra was comparatively faster. The Galaxy S23 Ultra took a slight lead from the start of the tests. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro Max took an unusually long time to launch the Filmora app, leading to an increased gap between both devices.

In terms of video processing, Apple smartphones have traditionally been much faster than Android solutions. However, in this test, the opening speeds were nearly identical. On the other hand, Apple’s flagship device performed better when opening Google Trends and starting games. It consistently outperformed the Samsung device in these areas. As a result, the smartphones advanced to the first-round finals with only a slight advantage in favour of Samsung’s flagship.

In the second round, smartphones launched apps at comparable speeds. When it came to gaming, however, the Galaxy S23 Ultra required two swipes to minimise gaming, whereas the iPhone only required one. Although the difference was only a fraction of a second, it was enough for the iPhone 14 Pro Max to catch up to the Samsung device.

In the past, Apple smartphones consistently led the first round for almost three and a half years, but it looks like the Galaxy S23 Ultra has changed that.

As per a recent report, both phones are difficult to compare in terms of processor because each comes with a chip that claims to be the best in its respective segment. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is powered by a special version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip designed specifically for the device. The iPhone 14 Pro Max, on the other hand, is powered by the A16 Bionic. Both chips are supposed to be at the top of the heap on Android and iOS, and from what we could see, they handled whatever was thrown at them with ease.
