Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 4G version launch tipped: expected specifications

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 4G version launch tipped: expected specifications

What it could mean for the S series

According to a report by Dutch Samsung blog, Galaxy Club, the company is all set to introduce this 4G variant in select markets around the world. This variant will be seemingly powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset, which is a mid-range chipset and not a flagship grade one.

It’s not entirely clear as to why Samsung plans to launch a 4G variant of a phone, even as markets that did not have 5G are also set to roll out commercial and consumer facing 5G services. Adding a mid-range chip to the phone could lead to making it available at a more affordable price point, which may be an interesting marketing point for Samsung to showcase an entry point to its Galaxy S series.

This, in turn, could work to attract more people to try out Samsung’s flagship phone experience – instead of looking at other brands. However, it’s not clear if Samsung plans to alter other features of the Galaxy S21 FE – or keep them at par with what the 5G version already offers.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G specifications

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G features a 6.4-inch full HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate, and is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC. It gets up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. In terms of cameras, it has a 12MP primary, 12MP ultra-wide and an 8MP telephoto camera, with 3x optical zoom. It can also record 4K videos at 60fps, and has a 32MP front camera that can also record such videos.

It also has Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, and a 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging. Reports have claimed that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 4G would upgrade its Bluetooth standard, which suggests a new connectivity module aboard the new variant. Other features, however, should remain identical between the two variants.
