Samsung will be launching a new phone in India on September 29th, as revealed by Flipkart. This will come ahead of the most-anticipated ‘Big Billion Days sale’ on the e-commerce website. While the dedicated microsite and Samsung are yet to spill the beans on the phone that will be launching, we speculate it could be the Samsung Galaxy F42 considering the company’s F-series is exclusive to Flipkart. This comes days after the phone’s support page went live on the Samsung India official website. Speculations are rife the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Wide5 could be rebranded as the Galaxy F42 in India.

Samsung Galaxy F42 specifications

If the Samsung Galaxy F42 is a rebranded Galaxy Wide5, here’s what you can expect. The Galaxy Wide5 specifications include a 6.6-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with an Infinity-V notch for the selfie snapper and narrow bezels. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage that is further expandable via a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 11-based OneUI custom skin out of the box and has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. 

As far as optics are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy Wide5 comes with a triple rear camera setup, comprising a 64MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 115-degree field-of-view, and a 2MP depth unit. There is an 8MP selfie snapper on the front and connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C support for charging and data sync. A 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast-charging support.

Samsung Galaxy F42 price in India (expected)

Samsung Galaxy Wide5 is priced at KRW 449,900 (roughly Rs 28,200). We can expect the Galaxy F42 price in India to be slightly cheaper, which when combined with bank offers should make it more affordable.
