South Korean tech giant Samsung is set to hold its virtual event at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) on June 28.
“At the event, Samsung will be showcasing how the Galaxy ecosystem of connected devices is set to provide people with even greater possibilities for enriching their lifestyles,” said the company.
The Samsung Galaxy MWC Virtual event will be live streamed on Samsung YouTube channel at 7:15 pm CET (10:45 PM IST).
Another thing that Samsung mentioned it will be showcasing on that day is “its vision for the future of smartwatches.” This is said to include new opportunities for both developers and users to “deliver a new era of smartwatch experiences.“
Lastly, Samsung also mentioned how device security has never been more important than it is nowadays, the company will be sharing its latest security enhancements.
When it comes to smartwatches, it is expected that we may see more developments in terms of what Google had announced in May last month. To recall, at Google’s annual developer conference Google I/O 2021, the internet search giant revealed that it is merging its Wear OS and Samsung’s Tizen OS.
Google in a blog post noted, “We’ve been hard at work in three areas: building a unified platform with Samsung, delivering a new consumer experience and providing updates to your favourite Google apps.”
Going forward, Wear and Tizen OS will be a single, unified platform. “By working together we have been able to take the strengths of each and combine them into an experience that has faster performance, longer battery life and more of the apps you love available for the watch,” Google said in the blog post.
Google claims that apps will start up to 30% faster on the latest chipsets with smooth user interface animations and motion. For better and longer battery life, the lower layers of the OS have been optimised. “That includes handy optimisations like the ability to run the heart rate sensor continuously during the day, track your sleep overnight and still have battery for the next day,” said Google.
