Reduce your exposure to blue light with an LG Display Eyesafe Certified OLED TV

0

As we spend more and more time using electronic devices like TVs for entertainment, we gradually expose ourselves to greater amounts of blue light. Blue light is a color on the visible light spectrum that has high amounts of energy and isn’t effectively filtered by the human eye, and as a result of this, there may be potential risks to our health. Research has shown that too much screen time and blue light can result in irritation of the eyes, and contribute to headaches and blurred vision. Notably, it can also make it harder for you to fall asleep, cause you to wake up frequently during the night, and affect your productivity and focus the next day. These effects can negatively impact anyone, but since their eyes are still developing, children are particularly susceptible to blue light exposure.

While all electronic devices put out some blue light, some emit more — or less — than others. This is where OLED TVs shine, as compared to traditional LCD panels, OLEDs emit significantly less blue light. This is because LCDs use a backlight to illuminate their pixels that’s constantly on, while the pixels on OLEDs produce light themselves, and only light up when necessary. This advantage, as well as the fact that OLED TVs meet the most rigorous standards for blue light emissions, makes them a favorite of the Eyesafe Vision Health Advisory Board. This board is composed of optometrists and ophthalmologists that specialize in eye and vision health.
