Redmi’s China unit shared a teaser for the Redmi K50 series, revealing some highlights of its upcoming smartphones. To start with, the Redmi K50 series will come with a “Dual Vapor Chamber” heat dissipation setup. And, unsurprisingly, one of the Redmi K50 variants — most likely the Redmi K50 Pro+ — will be powered by the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. The company also confirmed that the series would incorporate the 120W charging technology (last seen in Redmi Note 10 Pro+) in one of the models, claiming that it will charge a 4,7000mAh battery in just 17 minutes.
Xiaomi is expected to unveil four new smartphones in the Redmi K50 series, reportedly called Redmi K50, K50 Pro, K50 Pro+, and K50 Gaming Edition. Two of the models are rumoured to be powered by MediaTek chipsets (Dimensity 7000 and Dimensity 9000 to be specific), while the other two will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoCs. Further, the Redmi K50 series is said to come with MIUI 13 out of the box.
A recent report suggested that the Snapdragon 870-powered Redmi K50 Pro might be coming to the global market under a different branding. The smartphone is rumoured to launch as Xiaomi 12X in India and POCO F4 Pro in other regions. However, nothing is confirmed as of now, so we’d suggest you take this with a pinch of salt.
