On Friday, the Raspberry Foundation announced the Raspberry Pi 5, the next generation of the portable computer. It takes after Raspberry Pi 4, which came out in 2019. The new processor is about two to three times more powerful than its predecessor and offers significant upgrades.

Raspberry Pi 5 Specifications

The Raspberry Pi 5 features a 2.4GHz quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortext-A76 CPU based on Broadcom’s 16-nanometer fabrication technology. It has 512KB per-core L2 caches, and a 2MN shared L3 cache. The cores are accompanied with 4GB and 8GB of RAM. There’s a VideoCore VII GPU that supports OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.2, which supports dual 4K 60 fps HDMI display output. Moreover, the new processor has a higher clock speed, consumes less power, and is better at handling graphics.
