Pollywood actors such as Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk have in the past expressed their disapproval of how Bollywood movies stereotype Punjab, its culture and Punjabis. Joining them is singer-actor Ranjit Singh who is quite upset over the portrayal of Punjab in Janhvi Kapoor’s latest movie ‘good Luck Jerry’.

Taking to Twitter, Ranjit Bawa has expressed his anger toward the movie. He says ‘Good Luck Jerry’ once again shows Punjab as a state of drug addicts. Tagging the CM of Punjab in the tweet, the actor also asked if Punjab will only be featured as a drug state. He used hashtags- #shame #target #state #Bollywood. His tweet reads, “#Goodluckjeery movie vich Ek vaar fir Panjab nu Chiitta (Nasha) wala dikhaya gya panjab Nu bus hun bollywood movies vich drug state hi dekhaoge ? #shame #target #state #bollywood @CMOPb #siddharthsen”

Singer Prabh Gill also expressed his opinion on the same and retweeted Ranjit Bawa’s post. He captioned, “#Shame #Bollywood Take Strict Action @CMOPb”

However, he later deleted the post.

‘Good Luck Jerry’ is a story of a Bihari girl living in Punjab who tries to make a fast buck to save her mother who has cancer. This leads her into the business of drug smuggling.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranjit Bawa, who was last seen in the movie ‘Khao Piyo Aish Karo’ with Tarsem Jassar, is working on ‘Parahuna 2’. He also has ‘MIB: Kale Kacchian Wale’ and other projects in the pipeline.
