Rajinikanth starrer Sivaji The Boss turns 14: Fans say ‘craze for this movie never comes down’

Rajinikanth’s Sivaji The Boss completed 14 years on Tuesday. Directed by S Shankar, 2007 Tamil film also starred Shriya Saran, Suman, and Vivek in the lead roles.

Rajnikanth is loved by the masses not without a reason. His cult status reached new heights after the release of Sivaji. The film was a blockbuster and bagged many awards, including National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards and two Vijay Awards. Sivaji went on to become the first of its kind to use 4K resolution technology that was earlier adopted only in Hollywood films.

On the occasion, social media has been buzzing with posts and tweets. Hashtags like #14yearsofShivajiThe Boss #Shivaji #Rajnikanth #Rajnikanththeboss have been trending on Twitter since morning.

The film is about computer wizard, who returns to his hometown from the US to share his wealth with the poor and needy. But soon he realises that things aren’t as easy as he thought and he becomes a victim of a corrupt system. He is harassed by a politician Adisheshan (Adi). A corrupt bureaucrat assists the politician in exploiting Sivaji. They take all his money and leave him to suffer. However, Sivaji turns the tables on them with the help of his uncle, leaving audiences surprised at the end.

Notably, the movie broke all the existing records in Indian cinema and expanded the market of the South Indian Industry from its traditional base. It became the first movie in Indian cinema to collect a whopping 100 crore in the shortest span of time.
