NEW DELHI: Rajasthan Royals pacer Sandeep Sharma held his nerves under some tense last-over moments and delivered two perfect yorkers when it mattered the most to guide his team to a thrilling three-run win against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) game at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday.

And the seasoned domestic warhorse minced no words in giving credit to his franchise’s fast bowling coach Lasith Malinga, who is known for his toe-crushing yorkers, for the success against likes of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja that too on the final two deliveries of the last over.

And the seasoned domestic warhorse minced no words in giving credit to his franchise’s fast bowling coach Lasith Malinga, who is known for his toe-crushing yorkers, for the success against likes of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja that too on the final two deliveries of the last over.
Sandeep, who gave full credit to Malinga, said that he has been working with the ast bowling coach in nets for death overs and it has helped him.
“I have been working with him (Malinga) on Yorkers and it is coming out nice,” Sandeep said in a video posted by IPL’s Twitter handle.
CSK needed 21 runs to win in the final over, Sandeep bowled the first one wide and then there was no run on the legitimate first delivery. But after that the vintage Dhoni, who played an unbeaten knock of 32 in 17 balls, clobbered the RR pacer for two back-to-back sixes.
Regrouping himself, Sandeep gave a single on the fourth ball and what followed next was the greatest example of showing top-class temperament at the highest level and against seasoned pros like Jadeja and Dhoni.

CSK needed 6 off 2 balls and which looked quite achievable when you have Dhoni and Jadeja in the middle but Sandeep came up with two fine yorkers to deliver the unthinkable and deny CSK win in their home den.
“The ball which Mahi bhai hit was a tough ball. If someone else was facing the ball, he would have failed to hit it. I think I executed nicely and it is always nice to end up on the right side,” Sandeep said.
Malinga was quite satisfied with the bowling performance of Sandeep. He was also proud that Sandeep delivered some on-point yorkers to Dhoni which he was also not able to hit.
“I am very happy (with Sandeep’s performance), and hope he would improve more,” Malinga said.
Yuzvendra Chahal, who was also in the video, jokingly said that he should be the one to improve his game in death overs.
