Punit Malhotra shares pic with Shah Rukh Khan from new project, fans wonder ‘what’s happening?’

Director Punit Malhotra shared a photograph of himself from a set with Shah Rukh Khan, working on an unnamed new project. Punit stated that these were the kind of days that made it all worth it. While fans wished the director well on Instagram, they also wondered what kind of project Shah Rukh was now working on, after Jawan was delayed to September 2023. Punit posted the black and white photograph on Instagram with caption, “There are days that make it all worth it. Just to be on set with the man… the charm, the charisma, the humility and the love is unmatchable! Thank you @iamsrk sir for all that you do and for being so gracious @dharma2pointo.” In the photo, Shah Rukh is looking at Punit, while director seems to be explaining something to the actor. Punit is dressed in white T-shirt while Shah Rukh is wearing a white shirt with a blazer and sunglasses.

The director’s uncle, Manish Malhotra, dropped a red heart and fire emojis, while casting director Shanoo Sharma wrote, “Ufff” with fire emojis. Fans also wondered what project the two were collaborating on. One fan asked, “Wowww what’s happening???” Another said, “Looks dapper What’s going onn??” Yet another fan stated, “Aryan’s brother.”

Coincidentally, Wednesday was also the fourth anniversary of Punit’s last film Student of the Year 2 (2019) starring Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday. Punit started out as an assistant director on Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) and has worked on Hansal Mehta’s Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai? (2002) and Tarun Mansukhani’s Dostana (2008). He has previously worked with Shah Rukh while assisting on the films Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) and Paheli (2005).

He made his directorial debut with I Hate Luv Storys (2010) starring Sonam Kapoor and Imran Khan. His second film was Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (2013) starring Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan.

Shah Rukh was last seen in the all-time Hindi blockbuster Pathaan, with Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, was released on January 25. His next film Jawan, directed by Atlee, has been moved to September 7. It was due to be released in June. The actor also has Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki lined up for release this year.
