Chandigarh, June 26

The US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade ruling, whichrecognized women’s constitutional right to abortion, has led to a nationwide protest. Many celebrities have voiced their opinion against the verdict. Joining them is Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who may have not directly said something but she shared former first lady Michelle Obama’s statement on her Instagram and that says it all.

Michelle’s statement reads, “So yes, I am heartbroken – for the teenage girl, full of zest and promise, who won’t be able to finish school or live the life she wants because her state controls her reproductive decisions; for the mother of a nonviable pregnancy who is now forced to bring that pregnancy to term; for the parents watching their child’s future evaporate before their very eyes; for the health care workers who can no longer help them without risking jail time.”

Apart from this statement, Priyanka also shared a political cartoon that compared gun rights in America to abortion rights.

The abortion decision came one day after the court issued another landmark ruling finding that Americans have a constitutional right to carry a concealed gun for protection — leading them to invalidate a New York state law setting strict limits on concealed carry permits.

The two rulings showed an aggressively conservative court ready to remake American life at a time when Congress is often deadlocked and struggles to pass major policy changes.
