PlayStation State of Play June 2022 announcements: Spider-Man for PC, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Final Fantasy 16, and more

Sony hosted the latest PlayStation State of Play a few hours ago with updates regarding games from third-party studios and games for PSVR 2. There were several major announcements for PS5, PS4, PSVR 2, as well as PC. The 30-minute-long event featured Marvel’s Spider-Man series PC port, Resident Evil 4 Remake, The Callisto Protocol, Final Fantasy 16, Horizon Call of the Mountain, Street Fighter 6, and more. Here are the major announcements from PlayStation State of Play for June 2022:

Marvel’s Spider-Man series is coming to PC

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales are coming to PC soon. The Spider-Man series has some of the most popular PlayStation-exclusive games, which are now coming to PC. Spider-Man Remastered will be available on Steam and Epic Games Store on August 12, and Miles Morales will launch later this year. Spider-Man Remastered will feature the base campaign and The City That Never Sleeps expansion.

Resident Evil 4 Remake revealed

Since Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes have been well-received by fans, it isn’t surprising to see Capcom announce Resident Evil 4 Remake. The remake will reimagine the story of the original game and bring modern graphics and controls. Resident Evil 4 Remake will be releasing on March 24, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom has revealed that PSVR 2 will get some Resident Evil 4 content as well. Besides this, Resident Evil Village will be coming to PSVR 2 with support for 4K HDR display, 3D audio, and eye tracking. Resident Evil Village PSVR 2 release date isn’t announced yet.

Street Fighter 6 gets first gameplay trailer

Capcom shared the first gameplay trailer for Street Fighter 6, which features some of its iconic characters. The game will come with several modes including World Tour, Fighting Ground, Battle Hub, local Versus battles, Arcade mode, online matches, and Training Mode. Street Fighter 6 will have a new gameplay mechanic called the Drive System, which will be a gauge that can be used to perform five offensive or defensive techniques such as Drive Parry, Drive Impact, Overdrive Art, Drive Reversal, and Drive Rush. Street Fighter 6 will launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2023.

Final Fantasy 16 new trailer, release window revealed

Square Enix revealed a new gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy 16, which showcases its fantastic graphics and action-packed fights. The trailer also shows off summons like Phoenix, Garuda, Titan, Shiva, Odin, Ramuh, Ifrit, and Bahamut. Final Fantasy 16 will be launching on PS5 and PC in Summer 2023.

Horizon: Call of the Mountain extended look, Horizon Forbidden West new update

Sony showed off first look at the gameplay of Horizon: Call of the Mountain, which will be releasing on PSVR 2. The trailer focuses on combat and different ways to travel across the map. Call of the Mountain will be exclusive to PSVR 2 and Sony will announce its release date soon. Besides this, No Man’s Sky will be also be launching on PSVR 2.

Sony revealed Horizon Forbidden West’s new content update that brings several improvements to the game. The new update improves visual fidelity in performance mode, brings transmog, lets you redistribute skill points, allows you play at Ultra Hard difficulty, and introduces New Game+ that lets you play with endgame gear.

The Callisto Protocol gameplay trailer, release date revealed

Striking Distance Studios has shared first look at the gameplay of The Callisto Protocol alongside the December 2, 2022 release date. The trailer for the upcoming sci-fi horror game features multiple monsters and creatures that look like zombies in its futuristic setting on Jupiter’s moon. The game was originally supposed to be a part of the PUBG universe, but it was recently revealed that The Callisto Protocol will have a world of its own.

Stray release date announced

The much-anticipated cyberpunk cat game, Stray, finally has a release date. Stray will release on PS5 and PS4 on July 19, 2022. Stray will be part of PlayStation Plus at launch for members who have access to Extra or Deluxe tier. It’s great to know that PS Plus subscribers will be getting at least some games at launch considering Sony had confirmed that PS5 games won’t be added to the service on day one.

Along with these, Sony announced that Xbox and PC-exclusive Tunic is coming to PS4 and PS5 and revealed Eternights, Rollerdome, Season: A letter to the future, and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Chapter 2.
