The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be hitting shelves for the first time soon, with all set to be announced at a Made By Google event this week. Details on the Pixel 7’s release date, price, specs and pre-order information should all be announced at the high-profile showcase on October 6. However, in a shake-up to previous launches, Android fans have already got their first look at the Pixel 7 months before its release date.

At Google I/O this year the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro were revealed for the first time, with the flagships being unveiled at the May event.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro looks very similar to their predecessors – with both handsets boasting an elevated, rectangular camera bump that sticks out on the rear panel. However, the Pixel 7’s camera bump boasts a more distinct cut-out for where the lenses are housed.

Elsewhere, the punch-hole selfie camera in the centre of the display makes a return once again.

While we’ve already got a good look at the Pixel 7, there’s plenty we still don’t know – officially that is. Leaks in the run-up to the October Google event could have revealed plenty of unannounced details about the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

If you’re wondering when the Pixel 7 release date could be, how much it will cost, what are the specs and when pre-orders open then here’s what you need to know…

When is the Pixel 7 release date? When do pre-orders open?

Pre-orders for the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are rumoured to be opening on October 6, the same day that the Made By Google event is being held.

In terms of when the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro release date could be there are two options.

It’s been claimed that the new Android flagships could launch a week after the Made By Google event on October 13.

However, there are murmurs that the release date could have been delayed until October 18.

This is according to Android Police founder Artem Russakovskii who also revealed information about the Pixel 7 and Pro’s price.

What is the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro price?

It looks like the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will have the same price tag as the Pixel 6 range.

This is according to Russakovskii, who in the run-up to next week’s Made By Google event shared leaked listings for the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro from American retailer Target.

It’s been claimed the Pixel 7 will be priced at $599 in the US while the Pixel 7 Pro will cost $899.

While this is good news for Pixel fans in the US, it remains to be seen whether the price for the Pixel 7 range will stay the same in the UK.

The falling value of the pound along with other factors have led to tech – along with other goods – costing more in the UK in 2022 than before.

Earlier this year Sony announced the PS5 would be getting a price rise in the UK, but not in the US. While all of the products unveiled at the recent September Apple event cost more in the UK than they did previously, such as the iPhone 14.

The iPhone 14 is priced from £849 while the iPhone 13 was available from £779. Pro and Pro Max models also received price rises in the UK along with the new Apple Watch wearables.

Whether Google follows suit remains to be seen. But if Google does want to try and sway iPhone fans over to Pixel, then they could do so by going against the grain and not introducing any price rises for its UK range.

Speaking about the leaked US prices for the Pixel 7, Russakovskii tweeted: “From a source I trust, here comes Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro US pricing, according to current data in Target’s systems.

“First up, Pixel 7, codenamed Panther, $599, available in Snow, Obsidian, and Lemongrass colours.

“Pixel 7 Pro, codenamed Cheetah, will cost $899, available in Obsidian, Hazel, and Snow colours.

“The pre-order date for both phones is currently listed as October 6, which is exactly what we expected.

“The launch date is currently still listed as October 13, but there are rumours that it may be delayed to the 18th floating around.”

What are the Pixel 7 specs?

One reason that the Pixel 7 range may have a similar price to the Pixel 6 could be the spec sheet.

Rumoured specs for the Pixel 7 were shared on Twitter recently by data engineer Yogesh Brar. And, if true, it looks like the Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 will have very similar spec sheets.

The big differences rumoured to be between the two handsets is the second generation Tensor chip. The front-facing camera could also be due for an upgrade (improving from 8MP to 11MP) while there could also be a new 256GB storage option.

Here are the alleged leaked specs for the standard Pixel 7…

6.3inch FHD+ OLED display (refresh rate 90Hz)

Google Tensor G2 SoC

Titan chip

Rear camera: 50MP and 12MP sensors

Front camera: 11MP

8GB RAM

128GB or 256GB storage
