OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Campbellsville’s (Ky.) Gracie Parrott sits tied for first following the first round of the NAIA Women’s Golf Championship at Rose Creek Golf Course.
Parrott shot a 3-under par 69 in the first round to be tied atop the leaderboard. She carded the second-most birdies in the round with six. Parrott is tied with Southeastern’s (Fla.) Danielle Owens, Taylor’s (Ind.) Taylor French and William Jessup’s (Calif.) Gurman Knight.
Cumberlands (Ky.) is the highest MSC team on the leaderboard after carding a 15-over par 303 in the first round to ninth. Lucia Pena led the way for the Patriots with an even-par 72. She currently sits tied for 10 on the individual leaderboard. Carlee Shoemaker shot a 4-over par 76 while Viviane Braun carded a 77. Hannah Griffith recorded a 77 while Sharon Holcczer shot an 83.
Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) is 13th after shooting a 20-over par 308 in the round. Megan Mann carded the best round for the Blue Raiders with a 75. Malene Clausen shot a 76 while Zofia Wojcik carded a 77. Katie Biddlecome shot an 80 while Hannah Sumner recorded an 82. Sumner recorded an ace on the par-3 139 yard 15th hole.
Cumberland (Tenn.) sits in 20 with a 316. Nathalie Nutu shot the best round for the Phoenix with a 76. Raquel Romero Valverde shot a 78 while Pilar Scenna carded a 79. Emma Hermansson and Ida Furuheim rounded out the scores for Cumberland with an 83 and 84, respectively.
Keiser sits atop the team leaderboard with a 289 while Oklahoma City and Taylor are tied for second with a 294.
Round two of the NAIA Women’s Golf Championship begins Tuesday morning at Rose Creek Golf Course.
