Rumours around Oppo’s first foldable smartphone have been in circulation for quite some time now. Although the company has not officially confirmed any plans about the device, tipsters have revealed several details about it. Now, Digital Chat Station has leaked more information about the upcoming smartphone on Weibo.
As per the report, the smartphone will feature an inward folding design as seen on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and the Huawei Mate X2. The report further reveals that the cover screen is slightly curved at the edges and it has a centered punch hole camera along with 60Hz refresh rate. The inner folding canvas is said to have a refresh rate of 120Hz and a punch hole at the top left corner.
When it comes to the camera, the report claims that the smartphone will sport a triple camera setup as seen on the Oppo Reno 6 series with a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary lens, a 16MP Sony IMX481 tertiary lens and a 13MP Samsung ISOCELL S5K3M5 tertiary lens. For video calls and selfies, the device is said to have a 32MP front camera. The report also reveals that the smartphone will also have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security.
According to previous reports, Oppo’s foldable smartphone is codenamed “Peacock” and it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. The device is also rumoured to come equipped with a 4500mAh battery, which will carry support for 65W fast charging. It is expected that the device will run on ColorOS 12, based on Android 12, out-of-the-box.
Oppo also recently launched the Oppo Reno 7, Oppo Reno 7 Pro and Oppo Reno 7 SE smartphones in China. The Oppo Reno 7 series is the successor to the Oppo Reno 6 series that was launched in India earlier this year.
