OnePlus took wraps off its first tablet— OnePlus Pad—in February. In a recent development, the company has rolled out the over-the-air (OTA) update for its tablet. The update introduces new features– cellular data sharing, auto-correct, and relay playing. These features are said to enhance the user experience by enabling internet access, call answering, and SMS messaging directly from the OnePlus Pad, the company said.
The update seems to be rolling out in phases. At the time of writing, we did not get the OxygenOS 13.3 update on our OnePlus Pad.
“With the latest OTA OOS 13.1 update, OnePlus smartphone users can now enjoy enhanced communication sharing capabilities and seamless cross-screen functionality with their OnePlus Pad,” said OnePlus.
Cellular data sharing
The cellular data sharing feature allows OnePlus Pad users to log in to the same account as their OnePlus smartphone and share mobile communication capabilities within a 10-meter distance. With this feature, users can surf the internet, answer calls, and send/receive text messages on their OnePlus Pad, leveraging the mobile data network of their OnePlus smartphone.
According to OnePlus, users will no longer have to set up a mobile hotspot as it will provide a more convenient and interoperable experience.
Auto connect feature
The auto connect feature brings an instant connection between the OnePlus Pad and the respective OnePlus smartphone paired when in close proximity. By using the same account, OnePlus users can enjoy cross-screen functions such as receiving notifications and sharing the clipboard for transferring information between devices.
Relay playing
The relay playing feature ensures that users continue their tasks uninterrupted. Users will now be able to seamlessly switch between their tablet and smartphone to complete tasks, OnePlus added.
