OnePlus foldable phone won’t be a rebadged OPPO phone, display specs leak out – Smartprix Bytes
At its recent Cloud 11 flagship launch event in India on February 7th, OnePlus, a sub-brand of BBK Electronics headquartered in China, confirmed that it intends to release a foldable smartphone by September of this year. However, the confirmation did not provide much information on what the devices would entail, only showing a silhouette of a folded device that could be anything. A new rumor, courtesy of Digital Chat Station on Weibo, has claimed that OnePlus will not simply rebrand OPPO devices and that there will be at least some differences in what the former’s upcoming foldable phones will offer.
One of the key areas of difference, according to the report, will be in the display resolution field. The OnePlus foldable phones are expected to offer a richer resolution display, with at least a 2K screen resolution on the main folding panel, compared to the OPPO Find N2 Flip. This suggests that the OnePlus foldable phones could even be bigger than the Find N2 Flip, or at least differ in screen resolution.
So far, this is the only rumor that we have heard regarding the upcoming devices. A previous report indicated that OnePlus had trademarked the terms ‘Fold’ and ‘Flip’ for potential devices that it might launch, suggesting that it could launch similar devices to the OPPO Find N2 and N2 Flip, which were rumored to be named the OnePlus V Fold and V Flip, respectively.
It is not surprising that there may be similarities between OnePlus and OPPO devices, as both BBK brands now share many resources between them. The OPPO Find N2 currently features a 7.1-inch primary folding AMOLED display, a 5.54-inch external display, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, a triple rear camera with 50MP primary, 32MP 2x telephoto and 48MP ultrawide units, Hasselblad colour grading, two additional 32MP selfie cameras on the folding display and on the outer cover, Dolby stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6, 5G, and a 4,520mAh battery with 67W fast charging. Meanwhile, OPPO has just launched its first foldable in the global market, the Find N2 Flip, with a compact display. It remains to be seen how the OnePlus foldable phones will differ from those of OPPO.
