Omnipod Insulin System OK’d for T1D; Over 37M Americans With Diabetes; Bye-Bye, BPA?

The FDA cleared the Omnipod Automated Insulin Delivery System — the first tubeless device of its kind with smartphone control — for individuals as young as 6 years old with type 1 diabetes, Insulet announced.

A total of 37.3 million Americans have diabetes — representing 11.3% of the U.S. population, according to new CDC data. Of this population, 28.7 million people have been properly diagnosed while the remaining 8.5 million are undiagnosed.
